ADMISSIONS AND FEES

We are glad you have found us and welcome your interest in The Orion School. We are the only Atlanta school with a dedicated profile educating complex students ages 5-13 who have neurobehavioral conditions including ADHD, Asperger’s Syndrome, and anxiety. Admission to The Orion School is based on individual profiles and assessments, school reports, a school visit, and a parent interview. Thus, we don't have a permanent exam, but only an individual test and conversations. This is the essence of our school, we evaluate and teach not according to a constant program, but adapting to each child, involving in teaching not only books but also prime essays, interactive work and dialogues with children.

The scheduled parent tours for the 2012/2013 school year are on the following Tuesday mornings from 9:00-10:30: September 18, October 23, November 27, December 11, January 22, February 26, March 19, April 23, and May 14. Please call to reserve a spot if you would like to attend a tour.

Our admission procedure asks prospective families to do the following:

1) Call to schedule a tour to speak with our Executive Director, Laura Markson and Family and Student Relationship Liaison, Michael Largin, M.A. A tour by all legal guardians is required before an application will be given. The tour gives an opportunity to have your questions about The Orion School answered, gives us a chance to learn more about your child, and helps everyone decide if pursuing admission might be the best fit for your child and family.

2) Fill out an application and return it with a $150 non-refundable application fee. The returned application needs to include current psychological, speech, occupational and school evaluations and assessments.

3) Once we receive a completed application packet, a daylong school visit is scheduled for prospective students. Visits are typically on Wednesdays. An admission letter will be sent out within a week after the visit.

4) Once a child has been accepted, a $1,000 deposit is required within 14 days. For transfers during the school year a prorated tuition payment is considered the deposit.

We have a rolling admission process and accept applications throughout the year for the following academic year. Current school year transfers are accepted based on (limited) availability.

The tuition for the 2012/2013 school year is $19,800.
