Matthew Carden

| Matthew Carden is a third year teacher at The Orion School. For the 2011/2012 school year Matthew will continue teaching both math and sports skills. He is also looking forward to introducing a creative writing and technology unit to the students of Orion. Growing up in Metro Atlanta he attended Parkview High School and graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Science in psychology and a minor in mathematics. He has a passion for all sports, especially soccer and baseball, which he carries over as the sports skills teacher during enrichment activities in the afternoon. Matthew is a member of CHADD and attended the international CHADD conference in 2009 and 2010. He is trained in Handwriting Without Tears, Yoga Kids, Angel Bear Yoga, The Alert Program and belaying. Matthew has also attended seminars on autism and executive function disorder. In 2011 Matthew co-directed Camp Orion, The Orion School’s four-week long summer camp. Matthew is married (to Cristina) and recently had his first child, Lorelei. In his free time Matthew enjoys spending time with his family, gardening, cooking (especially Creole/Cajun food), and outdoor sports. |
